MoMeD Writing Retreat
Content
Join a two-day Writing Retreat with an overnight stay, designed to give PhD students dedicated time and space to focus on their writing while developing practical academic writing skills. Participants can work on their own writing projects, whether it is a thesis chapter, an article or a manuscript.
The retreat, held at Pharmakon, combines structured writing sessions with a workshop led by Thomas Basbøll, an experienced writing instructor and researcher. Participants will learn a practical approach to academic writing that breaks the writing process into manageable steps, helping them write more effectively and with greater confidence.
The retreat includes:
- The Writing Moment: A Workshop by Thomas Basbøll
- Individual writing sessions
- Peer feedback and review exercises
- One overnight stay with allmeals included
The Writing Moment: A Workshop by Thomas Basbøll
Writing is a sometimes unruly process. This workshop will demonstrate a practical way to divide it into discrete, manageable moments that reliably produce prose about things you know. We will talk about how to choose what to write, how to think of the reader, and how to develop a confident rhetorical posture.
During the workshop, you can expect to compose a paragraph and to be introduced to a feedback model that is easy to implement with peers. We will conclude with some thoughts about how such moments can be organised into series that ultimately produce papers, chapters, and dissertations.
Please bring whatever equipment you normally use to write.
