MoMeD Summer school 2026
MoMeD Summer school is an annual event which brings MoMeD PhD students and supervisors from different research environments and centers together.
The two-day event offers an opportunity to network, to share knowledge, to hear about research of your peers and to attend workshops of your choice on scientific or transferable skills topics.
3-4 June 2026, including overnight stay in shared 2-bed rooms.
You will be able to write the name of your preferred roommate upon registration and we will do our best to accommodate your wishes.
The MoMeD Summer School 2026 will feature:
- Scientific presentations from 3rd year PhD students
- Poster sessions in smaller groups to practice the skill of poster presentation
- Open poster sessions to network and discuss science with all MoMeD students and attending supervisors
- Workshop of choice
- Social activities and networking with your colleagues
All meals are provided. You will be able to indicate special dietary requests upon registration.
Summer school is a course which gives ECTS, so remember to sign up at Graduate school course catalogue AND on this webpage to submit your abstract.
Sign up deadline for both webpages 15 April.
Your registration will be complete ONLY when you have registered at both places.
Student can choose between 3 different workshops.
1. Workshop 1: How to publish your research (and still use it in your thesis)”?
2. Workshop 2: Career talks: insights from the industry
3. Workshop 3: How to read a scientific paper efficiently and effectively
You will find a description for each workshop here later on.
There will be bus transportation to and from Pharmakon to BRIC (Ole Maaløes vej 5). You can indicate upon registration for Summer school if you need a bus.
Pharmakon is situated in the southern outskirts of Hillerød, approximately 1 km from train and bus terminal. There are S-trains to and from Copenhagen every 10 minutes during working hours; you can use this link to find the timetable "Rejseplanen".
Travel time to Hillerød from Nørreport is about 45 minutes. From Hillerød station you can walk or go by bus 305E. Map and travel instructions by car: How to find your way.
Workshops at Summer school 2026
How to publish your research (and still use it in your thesis)
About the workshop
In this workshop we will address some of the common issues that PhD students are facing when publishing their research outputs and provide tips and tools for navigating these. After the workshop participants can:
- describe the publication processes and the roles of academic publishers
- define relevant criteria for suitable output channels
- apply recommended tools for the selection of appropriate journals
- reflect on ethical disclosure of AI interactions in their own manuscripts
- reflect on their own publication strategy
Preparation for participants
Read a two page guide book and describe briefly what you struggle with when publishing/ questions you may have.
The workshop is relevant for all students.
The workshop will be facilitated by Lorna Wildgaard, Rasmus Rindom Riise and Falco Hüser from the Royal Library.
In this session you will meet two alumni students from University of Copenhagen: Mette Louise Trempenau and Matias Ankjær.
Mette Louise and Matias will talk about their career path and how they use their acquired skills from academia in their current jobs. They will also talk about the differencies between jobs in industry and the job as researcher (PhD/RA). They will talk about their current role and their daily work life and maybe most important, how they got their position. The workshop will end with a Q&A with both speakers.
Mette Louise holds a PhD from MoMeD and has worked across early stage biotech R&D and large scale biopharmaceutical manufacturing. At UNIKUM Therapeutics, she helped establish the Copenhagen site and advanced cell based immunotherapy projects from idea to proof of concept.
She later joined Fujifilm Biotechnologies in Hillerød, where she supported documentation for the launch of the North Star facility before moving into documentation support for downstream operations. She now works as a Sr. Associate I and serves as product lead for multiple drug substance manufacturing campaigns.
Matias has a background in pluripotent stem cell research at reNEW, UCPH. He co-founded the company Meat Tomorrow in 2021 and decided to discontinue his master’s studies to focus on building the company. Meat Tomorrow is a cultivated meat company dedicated to the production of sustainable pork from pluripotent stem cells. Today, he works as Chief Scientific Officer, leading a small team of scientists.
Have you ever struggled with reading a scientific paper? Finding yourself reading the same paragraph over and over again without getting it? Then this workshop will help you!
In this workshop you will learn:
1. Reading order: How to read a paper in a non-linear manner without losing your mind.
2. How to remember what you read: tips and tricks for synthesizing information from different parts of the paper.
3. Key information found in each section: Get an overview of the key information that should be identified and noted in each section (abstract, introduction, methods, results, figures, figure legends, discussion). We will then put everything we have learned into practice through a hands-on exercise with a published paper.
4. Quality assessment and critical reading: tools to assess the quality of the research and the transparent reporting in a paper.
The workshop is offered by Jane Fisher, Cofounder and Managing Research Consultant at AdvanSci Research Solutions. Jane holds a PhD in infection medicine and has been working with translational research since 2013. She is driven toward developing tangible solutions that improve human health and encouraging open and reproducible research practices.
Frequently asked questions
Yes, it is mandatory to attend when you are enrolled in MoMeD.
We expect you to attend the whole 2 days of summer school. As it is also a PhD course, you will not pass if you are absent more than 20% of the course time.

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate everyone in single rooms due to budget limitations. If you do not have a roommate and don't know anyone to share a room with, rest assured that we do our best to match you with a student in the same year and department as you.
Yes, in the registration form you can write the name of the person you would like to stay with. If we do not contact you, it means that we matched you with your roommate.
If you are a 3rd year student and have been selected to give a talk, you should prepare your presentation and do not need to bring a poster. Everyone else prepares a poster. Everyone should submit abstract upon registration.
